It s highly labor intensive and each project runs into its fair share of setbacks like having to run drain pipe under a sidewalk or pathway. Start laying your drain pipe by attaching a 90 degree angle pipe to the gutter downspout. This could involve something as simple and inexpensive as installing rain barrels or it could be a more in depth approach such as running your drainage under your hardscape. Cover the inside of the fitting with pvc cement and push it into the lower end of the gutter downspout.

Sidewalks patios and driveways pose special problems for gutter drainage. Make it big enough to place the drain pipe under and your done. It takes a little time because that dirt is usally very hard and dry but it works well. Setting up a proper residential drainage system is no easy task.

If it works it is a great solution. Take a piece of one inch pvc pipe and insert your hose inside the pipe. Dig a hole about 16 inches deep on each side. Running a ground spout under the sidewalk if you have some elevation for surface drainage you can force jet rigid pvc under the sidewalk and use pop up fitting to allow surface drainage.

Turn on the water full force start the pipe under and keep working it letting the water pressure wash a hole through. Repeat the similar procedure for the other end of the angle to connect it to the ground pipe. If you are in a real cold climate a northern or eastern exposure it could be bad for freezing.
