Since the pocket door wall studs were normally 3 4 inch deep the 1 2 inch plywood never had a chance of touching the moving door.
The other side of the pocket required the plywood pieces to be attached to the drywall before it was screwed to the pocket door wall studs.
It only took a few minutes of extra time to do this.
Slide the bar into place and attach the next bar holder.

I see in figure 1 the one with the mirrored door that you have pictures and a towel bar affixed to the wall outside the pocket.
Expect to remove the drywall on both.
Using the set screw and wrench provided with your towel bar attach one of the bar holders to the bracket.
